Privacy Policy

Anchor is a personal recovery companion designed to help you break free from compulsive behaviors and rebuild your life through accountability, reflection, and faith. We take your privacy seriously — your recovery journey is deeply personal.

What we collect

When you create an account, we store your name and email address. As you use the app, we store the recovery data you voluntarily enter — daily check-ins, journal entries, temptation logs, mentor messages, accountability partner details, and your recovery profile (struggles, goals, and reflections).

How we use it

Your data is used only to provide the app's features back to you: showing your streak, visualizing your progress, surfacing your own reflections, and helping you and your chosen accountability partners stay connected. We never sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or third-party data brokers.

Who can see it

Your entries are private to you. Only the accountability partners you explicitly invite — and only with the permissions you grant them (streaks, relapses, milestones) — can see the specific information you choose to share. Mentors you contact can see only the messages you send them.

Local storage & notifications

Anchor uses your device's local storage to remember your last visit and your notification preferences. If you enable notifications, we use your device's native notification system to send you daily check-in reminders. Notification content is processed on-device.

Your rights

You can export or delete your recovery data at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your data from our systems. You can revoke notification permissions at any time from your device's settings.

Terms of Service

Not a medical service

Anchor is a self-help and reflection tool. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or addiction treatment. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services or a licensed professional immediately.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Anchor honestly and for its intended purpose. You may not use the app to harass, solicit, or harm other users, including mentors and accountability partners. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Your content

You retain ownership of everything you write in Anchor. By using the app, you grant us the limited license needed to store and display your content back to you and your invited accountability partners.

No warranty

Anchor is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee specific recovery outcomes. Your recovery is your own.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Anchor and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app.
